Hotel TRIBE Kraków Old Town is located on Worcella Street, within the historic urban layout of the city, which is protected under conservation regulations. The building, blending inspirations from Kraków modernism with the Polish interpretation of the Art Deco style, was conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of the region’s 20th-century architectural heritage.
The building’s massing has been integrated into the perimeter block frontage, maintaining the dimensional parameters, rhythmic articulation, and height relationships of the surrounding urban fabric. The façade composition draws on the motif of bay windows, characteristic of interwar architecture. Analogous solutions can be found along Królewska Street, at Inwalidów Square, in the “Feniks” building, and in the immediate vicinity of Worcella Street. The authors’ interpretation of this motif is expressed through a rhythmic arrangement of triangular bay windows, which introduce a vertical accent while establishing a cadence across individual storeys, separated by pronounced horizontal cornices. This solution creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow and enriches the tectonic expression of the façade. The elevation is clad in panels finished in patinated copper — a material with strong local associations, including the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre and the Church of St. Florian.
The design solutions incorporate principles of sustainable development and adhere to contemporary ecological certification standards. The building is currently undergoing the process of obtaining a BREEAM certification at the “Excellent” level.
